I remember as a little girl, I would be practicing piano and notice each time I would press a certain note, something in the room would vibrate. This fascinated me and I needed to know why this was happening. I also noticed that when I gently pressed down a key without having it make a sound, while holding it down I would play other notes and when I would stop the other notes, the one silent key I still held down would sing with all the notes of the others I had just played. What I didn't realise at the time was I just discovered for myself the universal Law of Vibration, well part of this law at least, the Law of Resonance. I had also discovered that every frequency, EVERY frequency, contains all frequencies. I didn't understand it at the time, and have always searched for a deeper meaning into frequency and sounds that I create music with, and then I found the Globe Institute College.
Through my training with the Globe Institute of Recording and Production College in California, I received my diploma in the Sound Healing and Therapy Program and the Voice Analysis Program. My continued studies with Globe include being a member of the Medical Sound Association and the Sound Education Association.
It was a dream come true to be able to be accepted to this school where I learned about the science of sound and how vibrations work. I studied along side some amazing professionals including musicians, doctors, Reiki masters, Yoga instructors, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Nutritionists and nurse practitioners. It was truly a profound experience to study with these incredible people as my peers.
We learned about frequency and how everything in the universe is in constant motion, vibrating and creating sound. We studied Sacred Geometry and then how sound creates it, and it is only sound that creates it. We learned about the human capabilities to perceive sounds and about the sounds we cannot hear. We also studied similar modalities such as colour therapy and how colour frequencies correspond to sound, and about the colours we cannot see as they are outside the abilities of the human eye and how to perceive them anyway. We learned how to use our voices to create frequencies inside the body with the intention for healing physically, and we also learned how to use sound to move stuck emotional energies and creating flow within the body. We took this knowledge and extended it to each other where we practiced using our voices to achieve the same internal effects onto someone else, and studied how we can do this for animals and plants as well.
We studied how timbre, tonality and harmonic structure create different combinations of frequencies and how these affect the body, the animals and the environment. We learned about destructive sounds and their effects on the body and environment. We also learned chord structure and how different chord progressions have an additional effect on top of the timbre and tonalities and how together they can create music. We studied music theory from the perspective of sound healing which I really thought I might be a little bored studying considering my music background, however, it opened up my mind to a completely different way of looking at music theory.
We also learned about the frequencies of crystals and essential oils and foods! There is a plethora of other topics we studied. Of course we learned how to create the perfect sound bath as well, and which instruments and notes work best for a group sound bath and how to design sound baths for a specific person.
I have also completed my studies in piano performance through the Royal Conservatory of Music, and in addition studied performance and composition in Toronto privately with world renowned composer Larysa Kuzmenko, my "Mom" of music :).
I am continuing my music education with the study of Classical Guitar through the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum with Patrick Feely and I am a member of the Brantford Guitar Society.
I received my Reiki Master certification with Reiki Master Diane Harrington here in Guelph in the Usui-Tibetan modality, and I am a Registered Teacher (in good standing) with the Canadian Reiki Association (CRA) and the International Center For Reiki Training (ICRT). I received my Diploma in Meditation through Fabulous Body in California and received my certification as a Mindfulness Practitioner through Achology - the Academy of Modern Applied Psychology in Scotland. I received my designation as Certified Crystal Healer with the Hibiscus Moon Crystal Academy in Florida and I am also a professional member of the International Gem Society (IGS) and have received my Jade Specialist and Citrine Specialist designations through the IGS.
Through my own personal practice of mindfulness meditation, I have discovered using sound and music as a tool, I can entrain my brain into a state of consciousness and keep it there longer than I otherwise could with silent meditation. Most of us can get to that place of full awareness but only hold it for a few seconds to a few minutes. Through sound, we can hold that space much longer, sometimes for a complete hour meditation practice or longer. The benefit of mindfulness, the act of being present in the present moment, has been shown to balance the mind, body and soul. It calms the nervous system, increases blood flow as it relaxes our blood vessels, increases brain focus, relaxes our internal organs and muscles... etc. The list goes on and on. When we can achieve some or even all of these, we find we have much more energy during the day, more energy for ourselves, a greater sense of accomplishment and much much MUCH more love and joy in our lives.
I welcome you to join me in private study of Sound, Music (in-person or online), Meditation or Reiki and to attend one of my many workshops around the Guelph area to experience meditative sound healing, and join us in community with like-minded people.
When we break it all down to it's simpliest form, everything is vibration. Changing your frequencies will change your life.
Love and Light
